Transitions can also be disorienting as they ask us to examine our perception of ourselves and our place in the world. They are also wonderful opportunities for growth. In this class you will learn about transition theory. You will also use poetry to identify and follow the phases of a personal transition, explore unique skills and values to support you, and leave with an understanding of how to navigate your transitions. You will also have a collection of poems for your personal and professional use.

This 8-week course is useful for those who wish to use therapeutic writing for management of trauma. This course will discuss the concept of “Post Traumatic Growth” and identify how and when writing can be applied to the process of recovery. Participants will learn about the Adams-Ross Model and how it can assist in expanding the window of tolerance and create an “expert companion” from their journals.
