Perie Longo is the grandmother of three grandchildren, ages 5, 3, and 2 months. For several years she has held poetry for healing workshops at Hospice of Santa Barbara and Sanctuary Psychiatric Centers of Santa Barbara as well as in her private psychotherapy practice. She is a past president of the National Association for Poetry Therapy (NAPT) and Poet Laureate Emerita of Santa Barbara, CA, has published three books of poetry as well as frequently in literary journals. For twenty-five years she has taught children of all ages through California-Poets-in-the-Schools, and has been on the staff of the international Santa Barbara Writers’ Conference.

Joy Roulier Sawyer is a poet, educator, and poetry therapist from Denver, CO. She received a 2007-08 Rocky Mountain Women’s Institute fellowship for her performance poetry, a staging of her eight-sonnet crown, Following the Piper. Her poetry has appeared in such diverse publications such as Bohemian Chronicle, Books & Culture, Lilliput Review, LIGHT Quarterly, New York Quarterly, Theology Today, The Other Journal and others. Joy is a registered poetry therapist (PTR) and approved Mentor/Supervisor (M/S) through the National Federation for Biblio/Poetry Therapy (NFBPT), and spent five years of training and supervision with Kay Adams, director of the Center for Journal Therapy. Along with Kay, she teaches writing and healing coursework at University College, University of Denver.
