S226Rottenberg – Parts in Art

Instructor: Yocheved Rottenberg, CJF

This course explores how therapeutic writing and creative journaling can support self-discovery, emotional insight, and personal growth. Drawing from the principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS), participants will learn how writing can help individuals connect with different parts of themselves while cultivating greater compassion, clarity, and Self-leadership. Through experiential exercises and guided discussion, participants will explore concepts such as parts and Self, emotions and beliefs, creating emotionally safe writing experiences, and using creativity as a tool for reflection and integration. In addition to experiencing the exercises personally, students will gain practical insight into how these approaches can be thoughtfully facilitated with others. This course is ideal for therapeutic writing facilitators, educators, coaches, helping professionals, and anyone interested in integrating IFS-informed writing practices into their personal or professional work.

S226Brennan – The Quiet Voice Within: Journaling for Self-Trust and Inner Knowing

Instructor: Carol Brennan, CJF

In a noisy world, it can be easy to lose touch with the quieter, steadier voice within. This four-week summer course invites participants to use reflective writing as a gentle pathway back to inner knowing, self-trust and clarity. Participants will explore the voices, stories, doubts and expectations that can make it harder to hear what they really think and feel. Using simple practices such as dialogue writing, list-making, unsent letters, inner mentor reflection and metaphor, this course offers space to pause, listen beneath the surface and notice what feels wise, grounded and true. This is not about finding perfect answers or forcing certainty. Instead, participants can use writing to slow down, reconnect with themselves and gather small insights they can carry into daily life.

S225Friedlander:  Make Your Journal Sing!

Instructor: Elisa Friedlander, LMFT, LPCC

In this playful and stimulating course, we will explore ways to use various forms of music and song lyrics to bring new creative life to our journaling and facilitation practices for enhanced joy, insight, and overall wellbeing. Historical and contemporary research inform us that music positively affects our mental and physical health (that shower-singing is actually good for you!), our memory, and more. Discover the possibilities as we gather together at the intersection of music and the evidence-based practice of journaling.
