Iris Wilkinson

Iris Wilkinson leads a writing for recovery group at a local addiction treatment center every week. She is a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor and has been teaching in the Human Services Department at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas for over 30 years. Currently, she is working toward certification as a poetry therapist through the National Federation of Biblio/Poetry Therapy with Kay Adams as her supervisor.

Iris lives just off the banks of the KAW river in Lawrence, Kansas with her husband, Terry. They have 6 children and 1 grandbaby. Iris participates in a community garden and a women’s writing group. She has published a few poems and is working on a book about writing for recovery, as we speak. She loves to travel and sit around the table telling stories. Iris has also personally been in recovery for the last 16 years.
