The Journal to the Self® workshop is the flagship course of the Center for Journal Therapy. Developed and introduced to the public in 1985 by Kathleen Adams, the workshop teaches 19 different ways to use a journal for personal growth, life management and creative expression.
The Journal to the Self Instructor Certification Training (ICT) prepares you to teach this timeless course in your own community. Because it is foundational to all theory and practice at TWI, the instructor training is required as part of the Certified Journal Facilitator (CJF) credential.
The ICT must be taken in the first year of the training. Unless you have circumstances that prevent you from traveling, we ask that all CJF trainees attend one of our live ICT intensives, held once or twice a year in Denver.
We want you to earn as you learn!
When you take the instructor training before or early in training, you can fund your own education at TWI. Teach Journal to the Self courses to only 24 people a year, and you’ll earn enough to pay for your entire TWI training.
Teaching Journal to the Self in your own neighborhood, house of worship, adult education center or workspace also helps build your core following and creates a ready audience for other programs you will create in your studies at TWI.
You’ll leave the Intensive fully certified, with a generous amount of learning under your belt and a big dose of confidence, purpose and motivation. You’ll be fully grounded in the philosophy and core values of the Center for Journal Therapy and the Therapeutic Writing Institute. You’ll have a deeper, richer understanding of the power of this work in actual practice. You’ll have an all-day practice teaching experience, and you’ll leave with a marketing plan on how you’ll earn back all of your tuition for the ICT in the first six months after you begin teaching. (Most new instructors do it much more quickly than that — usually the second time they teach the class.)
Intensives fill quickly. Please contact us for details.
